Flags stolen from town office

The Town of Didsbury municipal building has become the victim of theft.
The flags that fly above the building were stolen sometime after the office had closed on March 12.
An unknown person climbed onto the roof, cut the flags’ cables and removed them.
“It was noticed on Wednesday morning,” said Mike Philips of the town’s public works department. “Somehow, someone got up there, cut the cables, and got the flags.”
However, while the flags were taken, there was no other damage to report, nor any sign of attempted entry into the building.
Since the cables were cut, the town has to pay for the new cables and their installation, which is an estimated $500-$700 cost.
“We’re not sure how they got up there,” said Philips.
The town peace officers have been notified of the incident.
